About Lisbon

Lisbon is the political and cultural hub of Portugal.  About 30% of the entire population of Portugal is in the greater Lisbon area.  Lisbon is a crucial area for reaching Portugal with the gospel.  Only about 1% of the people in Portugal have a relationship with Jesus.

How We Plan to Accomplish the Vision

As we continue to learn the language and culture, we are participating in the life of a local Portuguese church and serving where possible and continuing to develop relationships with other churches, believers, and the people living around us.

God has created His church for the purpose of spreading His glory throughout the world so we value and desire to work in and through a local church in Lisbon.  The three main areas we hope to serve the church in are Discipleship, Church Planting, and Leadership Development.

Discipleship
From what we're learning, the local churches and believers in Lisbon do not have much opportunity for growth.  We would love to help Portuguese churches to equip believers "work out their salvation with fear and trembling" as the Holy Spirit works in and through them and us.

Church Planting
The outflow of discipleship and growth in the Christian life should be that disciples are making new disciples.  As new disciples are raised up some will be called to start and lead new churches.  We would love to be a part of raising these new leaders up and helping them to start new Portuguese churches.

Leadership Development

We have the desire to help train a new generation of Portuguese believers through the local church to serve the local church, make new disciples, and start new churches.  Because the goal is to see the Portuguese people take ownership for the church it is vital that local leaders are identified, trained, and empowered to lead.
